Dr. Gaoshang Chai was born in May 1985. He graduated from Nanyang Institute of Technology with a degree in Clinical Medicine in 2006. He obtained his Master's degree in Pathology and Pathophysiology from Zhengzhou University in 2010, followed by a Ph.D. in Pathology and Pathophysiology from Tongji Medical College, Huazhong University of Science and Technology in 2013. From 2013 to 2014, he conducted postdoctoral research at Emory University's Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine in the United States. In October 2014, Dr. Chai began his tenure at Jiangnan University School of Medicine. He was promoted to Associate Professor at Jiangnan University in 2018 and concurrently appointed as Associate Researcher (Neurology) at Jiangnan University Affiliated Central Hospital in 2023. He currently serves as Vice Dean and Director of the Department of Pathology at Jiangnan University School of Medicine. Dr. Chai is a recipient of the "Six Talent Peaks" of Jiangsu Province. He has been the principal investigator of 6 projects including National Natural Science Foundation of China (Youth Project), Jiangsu Provincial Natural Science Foundation (General Project and Youth Project), China Postdoctoral Science Foundation (General Program), Jiangsu Postdoctoral Research Funding (Category A), and Wuxi Science and Technology Bureau Development Project. He has participated in a total of 7 projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China Major Research Plan and General Program. He has published over 30 SCI papers in internationally renowned journals such as Autophagy, Mol Neurodegener, Mol Neurobiol, and J Neurochem. Dr. Chai is a member of the Chinese Society of Pathophysiology and the Third Council of Jiangsu Society of Pathophysiology. He serves as a Review Editor for Frontiers in Genetics and a reviewer for journals such as J Neurochem and Neural Regen. In terms of teaching, Dr. Chai primarily teaches courses in Pathology, Pathophysiology, Neuroscience, and Neurology at the School of Medicine. He has led projects in online course construction and graduate course reform at Jiangnan University. He has co-authored one textbook included in the 13th Five-Year Plan and published over 10 teaching papers. He has supervised numerous national and provincial-level undergraduate innovation projects. |
